Today’s scrapbook discovery is a black and white photograph taken by my late brother, Kevin. Those of you who have known me a long time know that Kevin was a pretty well-known photographer in the U.S. during the eighties and nineties. He died in 2000 of brain cancer. This is a photo Kevin took when he was still a teenager – somewhere in the countryside surrounding our hometown of Fremont, Nebraska. I remember him entering it in a photo contest being held by the Omaha World Herald. And I remember the day he got a letter in the mail telling him he was a winner! But the best memory was how he came up with the title of “Bent But Not Broken.” Those winning four words were compliments of our mother.
