So.

Yesterday I told you the story about my mom. And her “mean loads of laundry.” All true.

Bless my father for highlighting to me – as a young boy – the gifts given our family every day by my mom. In her laundry. In her cooking. In her housecleaning. In every chore of love she gave us.

But there’s more.

You see, my father washed a meaner load of laundry. I just never knew.

I was one of those kids who hit the lottery when it came to having parents who knew how to show every day care. But it wasn’t until after my mom died – when my dad took care of me single-handed – that I saw his day-to-day caring qualities shine.

Everywhere. In everything.

It was my dad who taught me that men are equally capable of nurturing and caring. And while the loss of my mother was monumental – I never felt the loss of care. Ever. That was because of my dad.

And it’s the reason why I not only am comfortable being a dad who proudly shows his caring side – it’s what I value the most. More than professional accolades. More that pats on the back from others. More than financial success.

Knowing that my children know my love through the every day things I do for them is success to me.

Plus, how cool is it to say, “Hi, I’m a dad. And I wash a mean load of laundry.”

Every day, care.  Here’s my notes from CES.

More great CES information from Whirlpool can be found here. And their website is always your best place for important – and caring – information. Here are some of my favorites from the Consumer Electronics Show 2015:

  • Whirlpool Washer and Dryers enabled with Nest Technology – allowing families to care whether they are home or away. Whirlpool is the first appliance company to partner with Nest – integrating their technology to understand a family’s lifestyle patterns – to help run a more efficient and caring household. Some of the specific benefits of Nest technology with your Whirlpool washer and dryer includes tumbling clothes in your washer or dryer when Nest senses that you’re not home. No more wrinkled clothes waiting for yo in the dryer!

  • Whirlpool is helping family’s care for others – namely Habitat for Humanity – with their “Connect to care” platform – which unites their appliances with philanthropy. Imagine how great you’ll feel – with Whirlpool’s high tech caring app – which allows you to decide how you’d like to help others simply by doing your daily, loving chores. (As an example, you can choose to donate a dime to Habitat for Humanity with every load of laundry you do).

  • One of my favorite new Whirlpool products is their new (available April 2015) Double Drawer French Door Refrigerator. What makes a refrigerator so cool? It’s family-friendly with smaller drawers/ compartments which are perfect for little ones to find and enjoy their own special snack or drink (without opening the main refrigerator doors). Plus, with all the different compartments – all individually temperature-controlled – you can say good-bye to foods spoiling due to limited temperature capabilities.

  • Whirlpool’s new Sunset Bronze Kitchen Suite was also a showstopper. For me. And just about everyone else that I saw drooling over it. This new product brings a warm-toned tinted stainless  to the market. You have to see it to understand it. But imagine the awesomeness of stainless in a warm tone. What’s crazy is that it goes with everything! Contemporary kitchens as well as traditional kitchens. So it you don’t have the budget to do a full kitchen renovation – this product line can give you an instant facelift. And the added bonus: the finish is virtually smudge-proof. And trust me – I put it to the test!

  • And what would CES be without concepts – and Whirlpool presented concepts that will help bring high tech care to new levels. Their Interactive Kitchen of the Future 2.0 – which built on a concept presented at last year’s CES – was a big hit with attendees. Just what might the kitchen of the future look like? Well, from Whirlpool’s eyes, they envision backsplashes and cooktops that can connect to your personal networks. Imagine the convenience of technology keeping track of ingredients in your home – even recommending  meals based on what you have on hand! Or cooktops that blend into your countertop – all controlled by the sound of your voice. But my favorite? Built-in screen technology that make your backslashes a multi-media wonderland – projecting recipes or even giving you a direct video link to grandma to double-check how many cups of flour she uses in her secret double-fudge chocolate cake.
