My sleepy-eyed teenager shuffled into the kitchen this morning.
“That bacon smells so good, Dad,” he declared. “I’m starving.”
I hated to burst his bubble. Poor kid. Breakfast was going to be his old standby bowl of cold cereal.
“Sorry, pal,” I said as I knew I was breaking his heart, “I was just doing a load of laundry with my new bacon-scented detergent from Green Works.
His look didn’t surprise me. He was hungry and disappointed. A bad combination for any teenage boy. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that the detergent was just the beginning. I also picked up bottles of Green Works new bacon-scented dish detergent (yum!) and all-purpose cleaner (I literally lick my kitchen counters after I use it!).
Another look from him.
He obviously doesn’t know about the bacon craze taking over our country. Bacon ice cream. Bacon martinis. Bacon coffee. Just yesterday, I saw my store carrying chocolate-covered bacon. It’s the comfort food wrapping its grisly self around our high-stress world.
“Dad, please tell me you’re kidding,” he said as he grabbed a gallon of milk (I know, it’ll only be a matter of time before we starting hearing about bacon-infused milk!).
I just smiled.
“Wait,” he said. “What’s today?”
So I was busted. And while my good friends at Green Works have a wonderful sense of humor, they also are very generous. We’ll be holding a random drawing good for one $100 Gift Card for Green Works products and (three) Full Value Coupons for any Green Works product on April 2.
All you need to do to enter is make a comment to this blog entry (below) and type the word “OINK!”…that’s all you need to do. You’re limited to one entry and the contest ends at noon Central Time on Monday, April 2.

Thanks for Green Works. And while I didn’t receive any compensation for this bit of April Foolery, I am happy to have a little fun with a terrific product.
