I know there are a lot of people dealing with the fallout from Chicago’s February 1 Blizzard (which is hopefully in its final hours as I write this post). O’Hare and Midway have officially cancelled over 2,000 flights today which will have ripple effects around the country. I’m fully aware that thousands of fellow Chicagoans spent the night stranded in cars on Lake Shore Drive. Last I heard over 100,000 ComEd customers were without power. A friend of mine had their furnace go out last night. Her house temperature is now a balmy 58 degrees.
I feel for these people. I really do.
However, in my own little world, I have a problem.
The snow is so deep and so high that one of my dogs is refusing to go do her doo-doo in the backyard.
I have two dogs. A hearty, good-attituded golden retriever, and a whimpy 17-pound puggle. The retriever has embraced the current state of the backyard as if he were just thrown in a McDonald’s Playland ball pit. He’s in woof-woof heaven.
My puggle, on the other hand, has decided that she is not going to have anything to do with it. I feel for her. She’s so little she gets swallowed up in the 20″ of show now engulfing our back yard. So, I even shoveled off a portion of our patio to give her a manageable area to do her thing. I’ve tried to leave her alone thinking some privacy might help.
But, she has refused to do her thing. We’re now on hour 12 of our standoff. Things are getting ugly…
