A Jewish Boy and a Chinese Girl

Posted February 20, 2013 by jimhigley

What do you get when you cross a Jewish boy with a Chinese girl?

You actually get the birth* of Soy Vay®  marinades and sauces. And I’m one of their new brand ambassadors!

My dad was a big believer in marinades. As a kid growing up in Nebraska I have many a “Teriyaki” memory: Teriyaki steak, Teriyaki chicken, Teriyaki salmon… Well, you get the idea.

A few years ago I discovered Soy Vay’s Veri Veri Teriyaki sauce – and I’ve been a convert ever since. Sure, like Dad, I use it on all the old-fashioned basics. But I actually enjoy it most with stir-fry vegetables which I eat more of these days. (And the truth is, it’s not unusual for me to just pour a little Veri Veri in a bowl and use it for dipping everything from veggies to pretzels. Don’t judge me!).

Alright, so over the coming months, I’ll be expanding my horizon. And I’ll be sharing my experiences with you as I have fun with Soy Vay’s family of sauces. Up first – and in honor of February being National Snack Month, I think I’ll try their Soy Vay Snack Mix Recipe. They give me the option of replacing my old standby Veri Veri Teriyaki with their Island Teriyaki. What would you do?  I’ll share my results in a week or two.

In the meantime, check out Soy Vay’s new, fun website. Get to know their family of products and help me discover new recipes. And for some good old saucy fun, check out Soy Vay’s Flavor Underground  – where foodies around the country tell you about hidden culinary gems in their cities. The first video, with Dana Nguyen, founder of firstbite.tv is up now!

* It all began back in 1982 when that Jewish boy and Chinese girl started talking about their common passion: cooking. They realized that by combining the best of their families’ cooking secrets, they could delight the world with unique sauces made with high quality – and certified Kosher – ingredients!

Yup, I’m  Soy Vay® Ambassador! And they have not only provided me with Soy Vay® products, they’ve also compensated me to be part of the fun! But trust me, I never, ever write about something I don’t believe in!
